Subject: BETTER THAN MOST CAMERON MOVIES
Yes it is much better than most of Cameron's crap, and it's a proof that some dumbbells like thornton leftie just has no clue whatsoever. It's not a big deal to be a successful Hollywood hack like Cameron when you have hundred milion of $$$$ just for the marketing of your boring crap alone and feeding it to the leftie thorntons of this world, but it takes a master like Corman to make something out of nothing, on a shoe string budget in a week or a couple.
PS: I'm too lazy to list all of Cameron's Crap but the letter A alone should shut any Cameron's fanboy for good:
- Aliens,
- Abyss
- Avatar
There you go kids, watch out for those atrocities above. In comparison they make The Last Woman On Earth a challenging masterpiece of 20th century cinema

....and no, it ISN'T better than anything made by James Cameron; a low-budget, cheaply shot movie is STILL a low-budget, cheaply shot movie. Have some perspective, and get a life while you're at it.

Subject: Towne's first Evelyn
Subject: Towne's first Evelyn
This fascinating film is an early progenitor of Chinatown.
Evelyn Gern will become the alluring, enigmatic Evelyn Mulwray.
Martin Joyce returns as the deeply scarred Jake Gittes, caught between two dangerous clients.
At the right time and right place both Harold Gern and Noah Cross are capable of anything.
The dark surround for both films is salt ocean water with the power to give and also to take human lives.

To bad the wrong guy died here. Perhaps they're trying to tell us all about some BS morals and marriage, who knows? It ends ina church of all places and in the movies, at least back then there is no attempt to revive someone and Martin (my name by the way) just dies for no apparent reason. brain hemorrhage maybe? Evelyn wasn't a hell of a lot of help and just walked away as if, "OH well, the only man alive who doesn't think he owns me was just killed by the other greedy creep." instead of fighting back herself or at least telling whatsisface to go F himself..

Subject: Original Release Cut
Although the color is a bit washed-out here, this is the original "director's cut" that went to movie theaters and drive-ins in the summer of 1960. No doubt about it, the film's star Betsy Jones-Moreland made it an even hotter summer!
The black and white version of this film on the Archive came from a TV print, lengthened by about 10 minutes with the same actors performing newly written and filmed scenes a few years later for a more syndication-appropriate running time.
One of Roger Corman's best films, despite the many flaws. Not bad for a $40,000 budget, eh? Take that, James Cameron!

Interesting story, though they do jump to quite a conclusion considering they're in one small town on one island in the Caribbean--there's more to Puerto Rico than these three people explored.
Amazingly un-cheesy for a Roger Corman movie.
Don't want to think too hard on the cock fight at the start of the movie. I'd bet there was nobody looking out for those birds.
